DESCHUTES RIVER WHITEWATER WORKSHOPS

Our guide team (Masters in Education and Recreational Management) will be offering various workshops on the river this year. If you would like to participate or set one up for your own group, give us a call or send us an email – we will be glad to work with you to make it happen!

ROW TRAINING

We offer training in rowing rafts through Class II, III and IV rapids on The Deschutes river. Our experienced guides specialize in baggage boat oarsmanship, as well as rowing a day float for fun.

WATER SAFETY

Our instructors will show you the proper way to perform river safety when on the water. They include how to properly read a rapid, what to do if you end up in the water, and what to do in the event the raft flips. Also, the technique of the ‘throw rope’ for rescuing someone else in the water while keeping yourself out of danger.

OUTDOOR "SCHOOL"

Our guide team is well versed in the history and nature of The Deschutes River Canyon. They share that information thru small workshops held on the banks of The Deschutes. This workshop includes a ride in the raft for viewing some of the natural beauty and history of the canyon. They work well with youth groups – and include some safety training when working with them.

GUIDE TRAINING

Our instructors are extremely experienced in guiding The Deschutes. They offer guide training for anyone 18 and older who has an interest in whitewater and would like to become a guide on The Deschutes. They take you thru Class II, III, and IV rapids, showing you how to captain from the rear position with a guide paddle. The class includes river safety and history of the river canyon, people skills and so much more. Plan to spend more than one day on the river for this extensive class experience.

BAGGAGE BOAT CAPTAIN

Complete with camp set up and take down for your fishing or whitewater trip. Whether you rent boats from us or have some of your own, he will captain the bag boat.
He can give you tips on great fishing and hiking spots to be found on the Deschutes as well. Let our guy do all the work – you just enjoy the trip!
