DESCHUTES TO COLUMBIA
DIY Adventure
A
little over 45 river miles, this trip begins just below
Sherar's Falls and continues
to the mouth of the Deschutes at the Columbia. Take
the rapids called Wreck, Washout, Colorado, Rattlesnake and Moody.
This is a great trip to take if you are interested in less
people and some excellent fishing! It can be rafted
in two days but many people stretch it out longer to
better enjoy the fishing and camping.
There are several BLM
campgrounds along this section of the
Deschutes. Group size maximum is 16. Porta-potties
are required gear. See Passes
& Potties.
River
Trails Deschutes
will provide you with the raft, frame, oars or paddles,
80 qt. cooler, life jackets, pump, patch kit, cargo
nets or spiders, cargo floors if needed, dry bags and
ammo can. We will deliver the raft and equipment for
you and pick it up at the mouth.
This
section has designated weekends when jet
boats can
be on the river, it is an 'every other weekend' set
up. We recommend you plan your trip on a weekend when
jet boats are not allowed, it makes for a quieter,
safer and less hassled trip! See the schedule below
for weekends jet boats are not allowed.
Segments 3 & 4 are under the limited entry system. Check the BLM Boater Pass website for trip availability. See Camping for
information on BLM campsites (segment 3 & 4).
